Why should I use a timer on my Philips Sonicare toothbrush?

All Sonicare toothbrushes have Smartimer. The Philips Sonicare Smartimer offers you the easiest way to brush your teeth for the dentist-recommended brushing time.
2 minutes

Philips Sonicare Smartimer automatically stops your Sonicare toothbrush after the dentist-recommended brushing time of 2 minutes has elapsed. If you switch the toothbrush off at any time during the brushing cycle, for instance to rinse or apply more toothpaste, the Smartimer interrupts its timing and resumes where it left off when you switch the appliance back on again. Although a 2-minute brushing session is recommended for optimal results, you can always stop or restart the toothbrush at any time by pressing the power button.
Smartimer automatically resets

When the handle is placed in the charger, the Smartimer automatically resets to ensure a complete 2-minute brushing cycle the next time you use it. The Smartimer also resets itself if you stop your Sonicare toothbrush for more than 30 seconds.
Different models, different cycles

Please note that a few of our handles, such as DiamondClean, HealthyWhite, HealthyWhite+, FlexCare, FlexCare Platinum and FlexCare+ have 2.5 minute or 3 minute cycles, as well, to provide deeper cleaning and target various oral care problems.
